Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters. Here's exactly how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Last updated: 19 October 2026

At VerifAI, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our authentication services.

By using VerifAI, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our services.

Information We Collect

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password.
  • Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with our services, including verification requests, feature usage, and device information.
  • Content: Images and information you upload for authentication purposes are processed securely.
  • Payment Information: Web purchases are processed by Paddle.com, our reseller and Merchant of Record, which collects your billing details under its own privacy notice; in-app purchases are processed by Apple or Google. We receive the order details (product, amount, tax, currency, order reference) and never store your full card number.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and improve our authentication services
  • To process your verification requests and generate results
  • To communicate with you about your account and our services
  • To send you important updates, security alerts, and support messages
  • To analyze usage patterns and improve our AI models
  • To comply with legal obligations and protect our rights

Preferences and buyer memory

  • Preferences: If you choose to set them, we keep your role (buyer, seller or expert), what matters most to you, the styles and categories you like, your usual reason for buying, your budget range, the needs you save and the price above which you want proof from the seller. We use them to tell you whether an item suits you.
  • Buyer memory: We keep a short history of the items you check and what you do with them: the brand, category and estimated price of each checked item, our recommendation and why you were buying, and whether you bought it, liked it, passed on it, or whether it matched the check when it arrived, with any note you add. This includes checks in the VerifAI app when your app account is linked to your VerifAI account. Your next checks use this history.
  • Only VerifAI's servers add to your buyer memory. You can see what it has learned, change your preferences or clear your memory at any time in Settings, Preferences.
  • Deleting your account deletes your preferences and buyer memory, and a copy of your data includes them.

Market numbers

  • Signed-in members can see market numbers, such as how many members checked a category or brand, what items sold for and how long they took to sell. We build them once a day from members' checks, collections, listings and sales in VerifAI, and from the prices of public listings that members check with Check a listing (we keep the price, never the link).
  • A number is shown only when at least 5 different members are behind it, and a price range only when at least 10 are, each member counted once. Prices are shown as rounded ranges, never as one member's price. Market numbers never include names, email addresses, photos, notes, links or item titles.
  • You can leave your activity out of market numbers with "Leave my activity out of market numbers" in Settings, Preferences. When you do, we delete the listing prices kept from your checks, and from the next daily update your activity is no longer counted.

Shops and staff

  • A seller can create a shop on VerifAI and invite other people to work in it with a role (Owner, Manager, Staff or Counter).
  • The shop's inventory is the owner's: when you create a shop, the items you are reselling become the shop's inventory. Your Buying and Own items, your checks history, your preferences and your billing stay private, and nobody in the shop sees them.
  • Invitations: to invite someone, the owner or a manager gives us their email address and a role. We use the address to send the invitation (one email with a single-use link that expires after 7 days) and keep it with the invitation so the shop can see who is waiting to join. We do not send that person anything else unless they join.
  • What people in a shop see about each other: everyone in a shop sees each other's name and role. Only people who manage the shop's people (the owner and managers) see email addresses and pending invitations.
  • Activity log: the shop keeps a record of who did what in it (for example "Sam paused Alex's access"), so the owner and managers can see it. Lines are kept for 400 days and then deleted. The log does not store names or email addresses: names are looked up when the log is read, so somebody who has left the shop, or deleted their account, appears as "A former member". Your own actions in a shop are included when you download your data.
  • Leaving and deleting your account: you can leave a shop at any time; nothing of yours leaves with you, and the shop keeps what you did in it. Deleting your account deletes your personal data; the shop's records stay with the shop, without your name. The owner of a shop that has other people in it can't delete their account until those people are removed, because the shop's data is the owner's account.

Feedback and screenshots

  • When you send feedback, we keep what you chose to send: the topic, your comment, your rating and the screenshots you attached (up to 3). We never take a screenshot by ourselves.
  • Screenshots are converted to a plain image before we store them, which removes hidden details such as location. They are kept in private storage that only our team can open, and deleted 180 days after we close your report, or 365 days after you upload them, whichever comes first.
  • We use feedback to fix problems and improve VerifAI. A short summary may be emailed to our team inbox.

Price comparison and photo search

  • To compare prices, we search online shops for the item you checked. We send the item's description (brand, model, type) to a trusted search partner, which searches online shops and runs an image search for us.
  • Photo search: if photo search is on, we also send one copy of the item's main photo. The copy has hidden details such as location removed, carries no name or account, is reachable only through a link that works for 3 minutes, and is deleted right after the search. You can turn photo search off in Settings at any time.
  • Prices and store links you add yourself are kept with your check. If you use "Price seems wrong", we keep your report (and the link or photo you add) to check our prices; we use it to test and improve prices only if you tick the box that allows it.

Invites

  • When a friend joins with your invite code, we record that you invited them, when, and whether they finished their first check, so we can give you both the reward.
  • To stop people inviting themselves, we keep a scrambled one-way form of the friend's email address and of a device mark for 365 days, even if the account is deleted. It can't be turned back into the email address and is used only for this check.

Usage analytics

  • We count how VerifAI is used, for example "a check finished", "an item was saved", "a purchase went through", and whether each worked or failed.
  • These records never include your photos, the text of your questions, your name, email address or phone number.
  • The apps use Firebase Analytics (Google); the website uses Google Analytics only after you accept analytics cookies. You can turn usage analytics off in the app under Settings, "Share usage analytics". Our own test accounts are left out of the numbers.

Data Security

  • We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest.
  • Your authentication images are processed securely and stored with strict access controls.
  • We regularly audit our security practices and update our systems to address emerging threats.
  • While we strive to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Your Rights

  • Access: You can request access to the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: You can update or correct your account information at any time.
  • Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Portability: You can request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Opt-out: You can opt out of marketing communications while still receiving essential service updates.
